What is focal glomerulosclerosis?

Focal segmented glomerulosclerosis is kidney disorder that is characterized by the formation of scar tissue in some of the glomeruli, structures that are the first step in the filtering of blood into urine. Not all glomeruli are affected and those that are may only have segments that are scarred.
