What is urinary tract infection?

A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection located in any part of the urinary system. This included the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra. Although most UTIs are caused by bacteria they can also be caused by mycobacterium, fungi, viruses and parasites. Treatment is determined by the cause.
